James Lipton, Actors Studio Host and Dean Emeritus of the Actors Studio Drama School at Pace University, Reacts to Will Ferrell’s Impersonation of Him

“Inside the Actors Studio” creator and host James Lipton is a big fan of comedian Will Ferrell’s spot-on impersonation of him from “Saturday Night Live.”

In fact, he liked it so much, he once had Ferrell come on his show to interview him, as him – the glasses, fake beard, dramatic mannerisms and all.
 
But he does have one criticism of the act.
 
“I think he does it exceedingly well; the first time I ever saw him do it I was in ecstasy,” Lipton – a writer, actor, producer and composer – said in a recent phone interview.
 
. . . Over 250 guests have appeared on “Inside the Actors Studio,” which has earned 14 Emmy nominations and is taped in New York City. Audience members include students from the Actors Studio Drama School at Pace University, of which Lipton is founding dean emeritus.
